Standard Con Rod Bolt | Ford Duratec HE I4
Technical Data
This set consists of eight (8) precision-engineered, single-use torque-to-yield (TTY) stretch bolts. Manufactured from a high-grade, low-alloy steel, each bolt is designed to be intentionally and plastically elongated during the final installation torque phase.
This controlled yielding creates a highly precise and consistent clamp load, superior to that achievable with standard reusable fasteners, which is critical for sealing high-stress joints such as cylinder heads, main bearing caps, or connecting rods.
The bolts are supplied with specific, non-negotiable torque + angle tightening settings (e.g., "XX Nm + YY°"), which are engineered to take the fastener past its elastic limit and into its plastic deformation range. This process ensures a permanent, uniform load but also means the bolt's material properties are permanently altered; re-use risks catastrophic clamp load loss and joint failure due to fatigue.
Unique Identifier: X
Key Attributes:
Single-Use (TTY) Design: Engineered for one controlled installation only. Re-use is prohibited.
Pre-Calibrated Elongation: The supplied torque/angle sequence is the critical parameter to achieve the correct bolt stretch.
Complete Set for a Defined Assembly: Eight bolts supplied to service a single, specific joint (e.g., 4-cylinder head, V8 main bearing set).
Critical Component for Engine Integrity: Essential for maintaining gasket sealing and structural alignment under thermal cycling and dynamic loads.
