PP325 Hybrid Turbocharger By OC Motorsport – Technical Data

 

The PP325 hybrid turbocharger is a direct bolt-on upgrade for the MK2 Puma ST and MK8 & MK8.5 Fiesta ST, designed as a complete replacement for the factory unit. It incorporates several precision-engineered enhancements to significantly improve performance and durability.

From our development in the ecoboost platforms we have established simply what works when it comes to hybrid turbochargers on the ecoboost range. We have implemented our learnings into this turbocharger to give the best power and response within the original direct install package. 

 

Upgrades over the factory turbocharger:

  • 23% Larger billet compressor wheel with 8 Blade extended tip technology

  • 15.3% Larger, high-flow turbine wheel (9 Blade)

  • Compressor housing modifications including: 

  • CNC re-profiling to match the upgraded compressor wheel

  • Bell-mouth intake tract Re-Profiled

  • CNC re-profiled turbine housing to accommodate the larger turbine wheel

  • New bearing and shaft system, purpose-designed for this application

  • Increased journal and stub shaft diameters for enhanced durability

  • Improved journal bearing

  • 360° thrust bearing assembly

  • Bearing housing modification for the larger turbine, plus a new heat shield design

  • Upgraded seal plate

  • Modified compressor clamp disc to suit the seal plate

  • Upgraded heat shield and clamp arrangement for the larger turbine wheel

  • High-speed dynamic balancing of the core assembly

Purchasing Options

 

The PP325 hybrid turbocharger is sold on an exchange basis, we need your old turbo back. You can purchase the in one of three ways:

 

1. Unit Exchange (send turbo after)

Pay the same price as an outright purchase. We will refund the surcharge (amount shown below + VAT) once you return your original standard turbocharger to us. 

Don't worry if your original turbo has excessive wastegate play / rattle we expect this so as long as your turbo makes it back to us within 45 days from original delivery to customer we will refund the full surcharge amount. OC Motorsport may make deductions from the surcharge if a turbo is sent back with parts missing / damaged or unusable condition. The customer is responsible for return postage of the surcharge item, we advise it is packaged carefully and sent with an appropriately insured service for loss / damage in transit.

 

Surcharge amount: £482.50 + VAT

 

2. Refurbished Unit Exchange (send turbo before)

Send your original standard turbocharger to us before we dispatch your hybrid exchange unit.

 

3. Keep My Old Turbo (outright purchase) No Turbo To Exchange Surcharge amount: £482.50 + VAT

Purchase your hybrid turbocharger outright. This is the most expensive option but allows you to keep your old turbo without the need to return the old unit to us.

 

Turbo Fitting Kit +£179.00 +VAT : As good working practice OC Motorsport would always suggest you replace the turbo oil feed and oil drain pipes whilst replacing a turbocharger. An oil and filter change is also a must.

Frequently asked questions.

What supporting modifications do I need?

You will require the modifications we suggest for stage 2 tuning: These are; A suitable high flow intake system, a full turbo back exhaust system of a minimum size of 2.5" bore with high flow downpipe and gpf delete pipe. Larger upgraded intercooler such as the Airtec stage 2 or 3 intercooler, suitable custom mapping to tie it all together. We highly advise our turbo fitting kit when replacing the turbocharger, this includes oil feed and drain pipe with appropriate new seals, gaskets studs and bolts. And Oil and Filter change is also a must.

You should also consider upgrading your braking, suspension and engine mounts to take care of the additional power this conversion brings.

 

Will I need to run on super unleaded?

Yes you will need to run on super unleaded 98 RON minimum. With this level of performance you run the risk of engine damaging knock from running inferior fuels.

 

Will this turbo run ok on my original engine?

Although we highly recommend a forged engine with this setup we have several customers that have put in many miles with this kit installed on their stock engines.

With careful custom mapping by OC Motorsport we can keep low engine speed torque capped at a safer level and bring the power in with increased rpm to reduce peak stress levels on the engine pistons and con rods whilst still seeing a huge gain in power in the higher rpms over the original turbos capabilities.

 

Is the turbosmart actuator necessary? 

Early on in our development it soon became apparent that the original wastegate actuator was not up to the job when pushing the boundaries. This is why OC Motorsport highly recommend the use of the turbosmart wastegate actuator on the PP325 Turbocharger.
